Launch to Work

SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit is committed to championing youth employability globally, ensuring that young people—especially those from neglected or disadvantaged backgrounds—are equipped with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive. As part of this mission, SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit has launched a new global employability initiative under the Global Scholarship Program, implemented in partnership with Industry Immersion Africa (iiAfrica), to support young graduates and early-career professionals in their transition into meaningful work.

The SOS Children’s Villages worldwide Launch to Work program is the flagship expression of this initiative, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace realities. Through a structured blend of digital skills training, professional development, and work-integrated learning, the program prepares participants with the competencies needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving job market. Its model emphasises practical application, personal growth, and guided exposure to real-world environments.

The first regional rollout, Launch to Work: Africa, offers a comprehensive employability pathway for young people across the African continent. Operating in 20 countries and supported by a network of over 200 employer partners, the program provides participants with access to high-quality training and mentored internship opportunities. This approach creates clear, sustainable routes into the workforce and supports long-term career progression for Africa’s next generation of talent.
